Our Research Team
Our research team is made up of dedicated volunteer family historians—many with decades of experience researching Gympie, the surrounding region, and beyond. Whether your request is simple or complex, there’s always someone here ready to help.
While we’re all volunteers, donations and research fees help keep our services running. These funds support the digitisation, preservation, and expansion of our collections—so we can continue to make them available now and for future generations.
We have volunteers who are ready to tackle our collections to research and find the answers you want…and maybe something unexpected!

Visit us during our opening hours and explore our collections at your leisure. There is always a researcher nearby if you need a hand.
Visiting fees for non-members are
- $5.00 per name enquiry or look up
- $10.00 per hour for use of computers research help etc
- $20.00 per hour with a research officer or DNA consultant
- All printing/copying is charged at 50c per page

We are here to help—whether you have a quick question or need in-depth research. Just fill out our Research request form and tell us what you are looking for. You can also upload any notes or photos you already have,
and we’ll do our best to build on them.
Research fees
Our minimum fee is $40 and covers up to 2 hours of research.
After that, research is charged at $20 per hour. Simply let us know what you’d like us to find and your time or budget limits.
We will send our research to you by email unless your prefer paper copies. Any printing or photocopying is charged at 50c per page.
Payment is required before we begin, and all payment details are included on the form.
