Burials and cemeteries

The Queensland BDM displays deaths until 30 years ago.  This collection has details of more recent deaths for local, state and interstate cemeteries.

Burial and cremation indexes may have details for:

• Deceased name
• Date of burial or cremation
• Place of burial or cremation

Headstone and monument registers may have details for:

• Deceased name
• Date of birth and/or death
• Headstone, monument or plaque inscription

Since 2004, the Society has hosted cemetery crawls and produced a booklet of the featured grave residents.The booklets are currently being indexed and digitised.

The booklet is in a number of formats as technology changed.  The index contains

• Booklet issue number
• Event date of Cemetery Crawl
• Format (.pub, .word or .pdf)

A short biography is given for the interred residents featured in the booklets.  Details may include:

• Names including maiden names and aliases
• Births, marriages, deaths and cause of death
• Parents, siblings and spouse/s
• Emigration
• Schooling and
• Occupation

These third party online databases hold burial details. Some sites have been built by volunteers and may have errors or are not recently updated.
