Have you been curious about your resilient great grandmother, your
apparent wayward great-great grandfather, or the roots of your family
history, the Gympie family History Society Library can help.

In 2025 our library facilities, rooms and members are available to assist your
family history research needs. With Gympie or Wide Bay information,
documents, books, lists, clippings, data, and plenty local knowledge and
history. So whether it be local orientated research, or, assisting with your
interstate and international family history research interests, come in and
see us, or make an appointment.

The Gympie family History Society Inc (GFHS) as it is today, began in 1980
as the Genealogical Society of Queensland, Gympie Branch.

Over the years, and with the support of members, volunteers and interested
locals, hundreds of hours of activities, this social group of like-minded
people interested in family history research, wanting to help each other, the
society conducts workshops, entertains guest speakers, run excursions,
conduct fundraisers, as well as helping to collect, preserve, and produce
many indexes and family histories of the region.

Working with the local community, the Gold Mining Museum, Woodworks
Museum, the local council, and many other small historical groups in the
region, the society is a reliable presence in the Gympie region working out
of the rooms under the Gympie Heritage “Rattler” Railway Station in
Gympie, at the Old Ticket Office under the railway station at 1 Chapple
Street, across the road from “Soma Soma” cafe.

So come in a see the friendly members of the Gympie Family History Society
Inc., or ring to make an appointment for a visit out of operating hours.
