Do you know of an ancestor with links to Gympie or the Wide Bay region who isn’t yet recorded in our collection? The Gympie Family History Society invites you to share what you know.
Greetings! I’m Denise and I am the President of the Gympie Family History Society. I encourage everyone to have a hand in collecting the names, stories and details about our past. This simple form lets you tell us about people, families, or stories we may not have. Your information could help other researchers fill gaps in their family trees and add to the local history we all share. Not only that, any stories you share with us will be preserved for future generations. Â
Here is how it all works!

What the ‘Add My Ancestor’ Form is for:
Use this form to:
-
Add names and details of ancestors connected to Gympie and surrounding areas
-
Share dates, places, occupations, and short life stories
-
Let us know about family links, marriages, and movements in the region
-
Pass on photos, documents, or memories you’re happy to share
You don’t need to be a member or an expert to contribute. If you only know a few facts—such as a name, approximate date, or suburb—that’s still valuable.
How it works
- Fill in as much as you can on the form.
- Tell us how you’d like to be contacted if we have questions (email or phone).
- Submit the form.
Our volunteers will review your submission and, where appropriate, add the information to our records or follow up with you for more details.Â
A note on Accuracy and Privacy
We record what is shared in good faith, but like all family history information on the internet, it may not always be 100% correct. We also respect your privacy: we won’t publish your personal contact details without your permission.
If you have an ancestor tied to Gympie or the Wide Bay, help us keep their story alive—add them today.
